Pin Hole Grate

As part of the project for a 35 MWe thermal power plant, this boiler will produce steam from the combustion of sugarcane bagasse and leaves.

The supply will be carried out by HPB under the technology and design of HPB Engenharia. UMOE Bioenergy acquired the thermal plant from HPB under an EPC contract.

Technical Features

Natural circulation boiler, Bi-Drum, convection bank with smooth tubes, superheater divided into two modules, the first in counterflow and the second in parallel flow to the gases, self-supported, and furnace built with membrane tubes.

Combustion system of the “Spreader Stoker” type, over a water-cooled “Pin Hole” grate with intermittent ash discharge, controlled by a sequential automatic system, through low-pressure steam jets that move the fuel bed and ashes to the front part of the boiler.

At the end of the “Pin Hole” grate, this material is received by a tilting grate, which discharges the ashes.

Heat recovery is carried out through two economizer modules, interspersed with two air preheater modules.

A gas scrubber of the “low pressure venturi” type ensures low particulate emissions, with reduced circulating water consumption.

Location: Sandovalina - SP - Brazil

Operation: April 2012
