Pin Hole Grate

Cosan, through its Univalem unit in Valparaíso, SP, in support of the implementation of the 45 MW cogeneration project in its first phase, contracted HPB for a 275 t/h steam boiler, designed and manufactured using HPB Engenharia technology.

Technical Features

  • Natural circulation boiler, Single Drum, convection bundle in plain tubes, superheater divided into two modules, with the first in counterflow and the second in parallel flow to the gases, suspended by a metal structure, and furnace constructed with membrane tubes.

  • Spreader Stoker type combustion system on a “Pin Hole” cooled grate with intermittent ash discharge.

  • An inertial particulate separator, type “U-beams”, is installed at the boiler outlet, removing more than 80% of the inert fly material before reaching the heat recovery units, minimizing tube wear due to abrasion.

  • Heat recovery is achieved through two economizer modules and two air preheater modules.

  • A gas scrubber, acting as the final collector, ensures particulate emissions remain within legal limits.

Location: Valparaíso - SP – Brazil

Commercial Operation: February / 2012
