COFCO International is the agribusiness platform of COFCO Corporation, one of China’s largest agricultural and food companies, with global operations.

With more than seven decades of history, it is currently the world’s largest agribusiness company in asset value and employs over 11,000 people in 37 countries.

Focused on becoming a leader in the global supply chains of grains, oilseeds, sugar, and coffee, COFCO provides food to the world in a responsible and sustainable way, establishing partnerships that create a solid foundation to leverage its business.

As part of its important growth plan, COFCO invested in a new HPB/B&W boiler, with capacity to produce 350,000 kg/h of superheated steam at 525 °C and at a pressure of 68 kgf/cm²(g), using sugarcane bagasse with 52% moisture content as fuel.

The acquired equipment features a Bubbling Fluidized Bed (BFB) combustion system, which provides a combustion efficiency higher than 99.5% and enables more stable operation with greater plant availability. This technology is also ideal for burning opportunity fuels.

Aligned with its sustainability vision, COFCO also purchased an Electrostatic Precipitator, within the concept of technologically integrated solutions for combustion systems and environmental control.

This equipment ensures high efficiency in particulate emission control, as well as robustness and operational safety for the COFCO Catanduva unit project.

The investment in this technology will allow COFCO to meet future environmental requirements, generating a positive and sustainable impact on the environment in which it operates.

In addition to its high collection efficiency, the Electrostatic Precipitator removes ash through a dry process, contributing to reduced water demand in industrial plants and lowering related operating costs.

In summary, the equipment acquired by COFCO International is another high-tech solution provided by HPB/B&W to the sugar-energy market, contributing to the multinational’s vision of leadership and sustainability.
