Cocal Paraguaçu
Bubbling Fluidized Bed (BFB)
Of family origin, Cocal is a 100% national company, founded in 1980 in the city of Paraguaçu Paulista, during the implementation of the Proálcool program.
In 2012, it acquired from HPB a new steam generation unit with the capacity to produce 200 t/h of superheated steam at 490 °C and 62 kgf/cm²(g).
The design of this bottom supported steam generation system includes a furnace with membraned panels, heat recovery units such as economizers and air preheaters, single drum, equipped with Bubbling Fluidized Bed (BFB) combustion technology, which guarantees combustion efficiency above 99.5% and allows the use of different biomass with moisture content up to 65%, using low average excess air.
High operational availability and stability are among the main advantages this superior technology project provides to Cocal Paraguaçu.
Another important feature of this project is the reduced emission of NOx (nitrogen oxides) and CO (carbon monoxide), allowing Cocal to comply with future environmental restrictions.
Furthermore, regarding Bubbling Fluidized Bed (BFB) Steam Generation Systems, full automation using a large number of sensors providing various parameters to control and interlock loops ensures a robust project.
The variation in fuel composition inherent to the process is managed by this design, guaranteeing greater reliability for the entire plant.
