Bubbling Fluidized Bed (BFB)

Berneck, in its new production unit of 500,000 m³/year of MDF and 500,000 m³/year of MDP, located in the city of Curitibanos-SC, features a boiler designed to produce high-pressure steam, hot gases at 850°C for the thermal oil furnace, and hot gases at 350°C for the fiber drying line.

Technical Features

Natural circulation boiler, single drum, convection bundle in plain tubes, superheater divided into two modules—the first in counterflow and the second in parallel flow to the gases—suspended by a metal structure with a furnace built from membrane tubes.

Bubbling Fluidized Bed, using sand as inert material, fully open bottom type, allowing complete removal of foreign elements such as stones, metal scraps, and others.

Bed temperature control is achieved by a combination of primary air and gas recirculation.

Heat recovery is accomplished through an economizer and an air preheater, followed by the installation of an Electrostatic Precipitator (ESP) to control particulate levels in combustion gases, which, once cleaned, are directed to the fiber drying line.

Location: Curitibanos - SC

Operation: July 2011
