Bubbling Fluidized Bed (BFB)

Since 2006, Be8, a national leader in biodiesel and renewable energy production, has experienced a significant and remarkable growth curve, grounded in creating a sustainable future through natural resource preservation and the implementation of energy matrices based on a circular innovation ecosystem.


Headquartered in Passo Fundo (RS) with production units in four other Brazilian states, as well as Paraguay and Switzerland, Be8 has expanded its operations and brought innovation to the market at various points. Achievements have been driven by internationally recognized technologies alongside quality certifications, ensuring a commitment to delivering excellent services to its clients.


Recently, Be8 announced the investment in a new cereal-based ethanol production unit in Passo Fundo (RS). The planned production will be 210 million liters per year of anhydrous and hydrated ethanol, derived from cereals such as corn and others new to the market, including wheat and triticale. The plant is expected to supply a significant portion of the state’s ethanol demand.


Based on the principles of by-product valorization and circular production, the plant will also offer DDGS (Dried Distillers Grains with Solubles), a high-nutritional resource for animal feed.


Innovatively for the country, the project also includes large-scale production of vital gluten, an important protein ingredient for the food industry, in quantities sufficient to fully meet Brazilian demand, which currently depends on imports, and can also supply Mercosur member countries.


Aligned with its institutional principles and values of efficiency, innovation, and environmental responsibility, Be8 selected HPB as a partner in this pioneering venture. Accordingly, HPB will supply a boiler with a production capacity of 150,000 kg/h of superheated steam at 520 ºC and 67 bar, to meet process steam and energy generation requirements. The equipment features Bubbling Fluidized Bed (BFB) technology, a high-efficiency combustion system (> 99.5 %) capable of operating with different fuel combinations.


In addition, the boiler is equipped with an Electrostatic Precipitator (ESP), allowing particulate emission control via dry filtration. This ensures high efficiency and low operational cost while meeting strict environmental standards and aligning with Be8’s ESG policies and environmental commitment programs.


Through this partnership, HPB continues its mission to provide technological and sustainable solutions to pioneering initiatives that promote circular economic development in the Brazilian industry.
